2024 Memorial Tournament: Top 10 power rankings at Muirfield Village

Patrick Cantlay is not exactly in a slump, but no wins or runner-up finishes this far into 2024 is a bit surprising.

The Memorial Tournament is an ideal spot to try to grab his ninth career PGA Tour victory.

He’s twice a winner at Muirfield Village.

Cantlay picked off his first at Jack’s Place in 2019. The former UCLA Bruin fired 68-69-68-64 to win by two over Adam Scott in second, by four over third place, and by six over fourth.

“One of the things I like about this golf course is it's pretty straightforward once you get to know it,” Cantlay was quoted by ASAP Sports in 2019. “You know when you hit a good shot, and good shots are rewarded; and bad shots, they're bad shots. It's going to be hard to scramble and make pars.”

The next win here came in 2021 when his performance was overshadowed by Jon Rahm’s withdrawal prior to the final round due to a positive COVID-19 test. Rahm looked poised to run away with it up six shots on Cantlay.

Who knows how it would have actually turned out, but Cantlay made the most of it by beating what was a crowded leaderboard in Rahm’s absence. Cantlay fired 69-67-68-71 and beat Collin Morikawa in a playoff.

Cantlay also finished solo fourth (68-69-66-71) in 2018 and T-3rd (72-69-69-71) in 2022. He’s 8-for-8 making the cut in Dublin with T-32nd his worst result.

Cantlay is well-rested with two weeks off since the PGA Championship (T-53rd). He’s not too far removed from T-3rd at the RBC Heritage, which was his second top-five of the season joining a T-4th at the Genesis Invitational.

The 32-year-old is a positive on the PGA Tour in all strokes gained categories, except on approach.
