FedEx Cup: 37th. Tommy Fleetwood. 2024CanadianOpen/PowerRank/5. 5. OWGR: 13th

All Tommy Fleetwood could do was shake his head and smile.

Usually, he’s the rooting interest of the majority of the gallery. At the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, he was the antagonist to the home country hero, Nick Taylor. Taylor stunned Fleetwood and the thousands in attendance by dropping a 72-foot eagle putt to win in a playoff.

Fleetwood is still seeking his first PGA Tour victory to this day.

The Englishman will look to reverse his luck at Hamilton, a track he’s seeing for the first time.

Fleetwood’s lack of course knowledge doesn’t deter him from being one of the favorites this week in Ontario. He’s riding solid form that shows six straight top-50s, including T-7th at the Valero Texas Open, a Masters career best of T-3rd, and T-13th at a Signature Event, the Wells Fargo Championship.

He last teed it up at the PGA Championship where he took T-26th.

The 33-year-old’s short game this season should help leave manageable putts on Hamilton’s sloping greens. Fleetwood ranks 13th on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (.429).

He’s also third in driving accuracy (77.47%) and 12th in par-4 scoring (3.97).

While Fleetwood is only 13th in the May 26 edition of the Official World Golf Ranking, he’s 11th in the May 20 Data Golf ranking, which also includes LIV players.

Data Golf factors recent play more than the OWGR, which factors in results going back two years.

The iron is hot for Fleetwood to strike. He’s already a DP World Tour winner this season and could finally snatch one on the PGA Tour this week. Then all we’ll have to hear about is how he hasn’t won in the United States.
