OWGR: 20th. FedEx Cup: 39th. Jordan Spieth. 2024Heritage/PowerRank/10. 10

Jordan Spieth was unable to summon his usual Augusta magic last week at the Masters. He missed the cut.

I believe an extra day to rest up will help him be ready to go at one of his other happy places, Harbour Town.

Spieth is a stalwart at the RBC Heritage.

In seven career starts, he’s never missed the cut and just twice has finished outside the top 12.

The last two years have been some of his best in South Carolina. Spieth won in 2022 with rounds of 69-68-68-66 (-13) to reach a playoff. It took some faltering by others on the leaderboard to create this opportunity, but he capitalized by beating Patrick Cantlay in a playoff.

The next year, the Texan nearly went back-to-back. Spieth went four shots lower (68-67-66-66, -17) but lost in a three-hole playoff to Matt Fitzpatrick.

Last year, Spieth ranked sixth in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach (5.971) and eighth in SG: Putting (4.978). He was also T-10th in scrambling (80%).

When Spieth is on his game, he can pull off all sorts of shot shapes and can succeed off different lies and settings. Playing around tree branches and other obstacles in play this week is up his alley.

“You have to have all the ball flights,” Spieth was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2013 of a key to success at this event, “can't let one stray.”

To the surprise of some, Spieth is eighth on the PGA Tour in SG: Total (1.203). He’s top-100 in every SG category and has the putter rolling well again, sitting 12th (.673) in SG.

Prior to the Masters, Spieth posted T-10th at the Valero Texas Open.

Spieth can shoot in the 60s at Harbour Town in his sleep. But I can’t rank him any higher as it’s hard to completely forget about last week’s performance, as well as his approach play season-wide which hasn’t been up to his standard.
