2024 RBC Heritage: Top 10 power rankings at Harbour Town

After a relatively sleepy start to 2024, Collin Morikawa just reminded us how good he can be when things are clicking.

He nearly completed the third leg of the career grand slam, sharing the lead for stretches on Sunday at the Masters en route to his personal tournament-best finish, T-3rd.

A couple of uncharacteristic double-bogeys doomed his chances. He had to take those chances given how well Scottie Scheffler’s been playing, so it’s commendable he went for it, even if it cost him second place in the end.

“There's only a couple holes out here that hurt me,” Morikawa was transcribed by ASAP Sports at the Masters. “I still feel like out here I can hit my shots and it is what it is. Yeah, it would be nice to hit it farther, but I think with the game I had, if I can just tighten a few things up, like it wasn't that far off. I mean, I finished, what, seven shots back. I think it was a little closer mentally for me.”

Morikawa will look to take the momentum from his second top-five of 2024 (T-5th, The Sentry) to Hilton Head Island.

This will be the former Cal Golden Bear’s fifth appearance at the RBC Heritage. Morikawa has finished inside the top 31 each of the last three years, including in 2021 when he placed T-7th (65-68-67-72).

“It's a course that I think really suits my game,” Morikawa was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021. “A lot of tee to green, a lot of approach shots that are kind of in my wheelhouse.”

The 27-year-old ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy (77.61%). That stat is diminishing in importance over time, but it’s still important at a tight track like Harbour Town.

He’s also fourth in average approach proximity from 175-200 yards (28’6”), a common distance range players will face this week.
