2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic: Top 10 power rankings at Detroit Golf Club

Taylor Pendrith has been one of the best at the Rocket Mortgage Classic over the last two years. Especially if you don’t count the final rounds.

In rounds one through three, the Canadian owns a scoring average of 65.5 at Detroit Golf Club. Pendrith has had some final round blues, posting 72 in 2022 and 73 in 2023.

The Kent State alum still took home nice checks each time, finishing T-2nd (five shots back) and T-14th, respectively.

Pendrith grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, which is less than a four-hour drive across the border to Detroit. He tends to have a lot of family and friends in tow for what’s the closest event he plays to home besides the RBC Canadian Open.

“I think it's a combination of this is the same type of grass I grew up on, same type of greens, old-school layout, a lot of drivers,” Pendrith was transcribed by Tee Scripts in 2023. “Yeah, I don't know, I really like this place and feel good with everything.”

Pendrith is not just a horse for the course. He’s in good recent form coming off T-23rd last week at the Travelers Championship.

The 33-year-old broke through for his first win this year at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Pendrith followed with T-10th at the Wells Fargo Championship, T-21st in Canada, T-33rd at the Memorial Tournament, and T-16th at the U.S. Open, his best finish at a major.

Pendrith is a bomber who fits the mold of players who tend to play well at DGC. He ranks 15th on the PGA Tour in driving distance (309.8 yards). He’s also fourth in Strokes Gained: Putting (.714).
