2024 The Sentry: Fantasy Golf Showdown Picks
By Hans Geevers
This Thursday, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf fans with the first round of the 2024 Sentry. Let's take a look at this week's season-opening event from a fantasy golf/DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
For those readers who are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform. If you need to review the specific rules for the showdown contest feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my fantasy golf DFS player selections for the DraftKings first round showdown contest!
2024 The Sentry: Round One Showdown Selections
Collin Morikawa $9,400
The 2020 PGA Champion arrives at this week's 2024 Sentry on the heels of two consecutive top-seven finishes on the PGA Tour, including a win at the 2023 ZOZO Championship in October.
If you are looking for a golfer who has consistently posted quality results at the Plantation course look no further as I have found your man. That man's name is Collin Morikawa.
Since 2020, Collin Morikawa has played this week's PGA Tour event four times. In those four tournaments just noted, Morikawa has accumulated four top-seven finishes, including a second-place result at the 2023 Sentry.
Jordan Spieth $8,700
Jordan Spieth has accumulated two top-six finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a sixth-place result at the 2023 Hero World Challenge four weeks ago.
It should also be noted that Jordan Spieth won the 2016 Sentry.
Russell Henley $7,800
Since the beginning of August, Russell Henley has played five events on the PGA Tour. In those five tournaments just mentioned, Russell Henley has accumulated five consecutive top-13 finishes, including an eighth-place result at the 2023 BMW Championship in September.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round: Tyrrell Hatton $8,900: Luke List $7,000: Erik Van Rooyen $6,900:
