2024HoustonOpen/PowerRank/10. 10. OWGR: 44th. FedEx Cup: 25th. SI Woo Kim

Si Woo Kim has perhaps flown under the radar due to a lack of weeks he’s contended for the title, but it’s still been a fairly successful year thus far.

One of South Korea’s top golfers has six made cuts in as many tries and has not finished worse than T-44th all season.

Kim is coming off his best performance of the season, taking T-6th at the Players Championship. That was his sixth top-30 in eight starts.

Kim turned a good week into a great one by climbing 18 spots up the leaderboard on Sunday thanks to a scorching 8-under 64. He gained strokes in every category for the tournament and was ninth in both Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (3.864), and SG: Putting (4.79).

That type of week was no surprise in SG: Off-the-Tee, where he’s 16th on the season (.601). The putting was a revelation since he’s ranked sub-100. Otherwise, his overall game is solid, as evidenced by his 16th rank in SG: Total (.979).

A big part of that is ranking fifth in SG: Off-the-Tee (1.309).

Kim is coming to Memorial Park for the third time. He missed the cut by a shot after posting 71-73 in 2020 and bounced back a couple years later for T-35th (68-69-69-73).

He is known for having a bit of a temper on this course. Tom Doak courses can play tricks on players. If Kim can keep his composure and let his prowess off the tee keep him from frustration, he could be in the winner’s circle come Sunday.
