2024 US Open: Top 10 power rankings at Pinehurst
Ludvig Aberg appears to be back in good health.
He put a lot of questions to rest about the status of his game heading into the U.S. Open by finishing T-5th last week at the Memorial Tournament. Aberg went 68-72-72-74 to finish T-5th against a strong field and even stronger conditions at Muirfield Village.
Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis recently reported Ludvig Aberg sustained a partial meniscus tear in his left knee while working out.
Aberg claims he is not enduring any pain on the course, though he’s been hesitant to disclose too many details about the specific injury.
“I've been playing and practicing to a hundred percent over the last couple of weeks and I don't feel anything when I'm playing,” Aberg was transcribed by ASAP Sports.
What we know is he’s back to playing the golf we’ve grown accustomed to seeing out of the Swede over the last few years as an elite amateur and pro.
Prior to his injury that forced his withdrawal from the Wells Fargo Championship and a missed cut the next week at the PGA Championship, Aberg had four top-10s and no missed cuts in 2024. He won late in 2023 for his maiden PGA Tour victory at the RSM Classic. This year, he owns two solo runner-up finishes, most notably in his Masters debut. He was also in solo second through 54 holes at a Signature Event, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and did not get a chance to chase down Wyndham Clark, whom he trailed by one entering the final round that got canceled due to inclement weather.
Aberg ranks ninth on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total (1.088). The 24-year-old’s short game and putting still have a little ways to go, but the ball striking is already world-class. He’s 14th in SG: Tee-to-Green (.966), 14th in SG: Off-the-Tee (.543), and 17th in SG: Approach (.503).
This will be the former Texas Tech Red Raider’s debut at Pinehurst No. 2.
