The PGA Tour finishes its Texas two-step this week at the Valero Texas Open.

The golf world shifts its gaze south from Houston to San Antonio.

TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course is the site of the 102nd edition of the Texas Open. It’s been here since 2010.

Despite LIV Golf’s Greg Norman’s decades-long feud with the PGA Tour, several of his designs still litter the PGA Tour schedule. The Oaks Course is one of them.

It’s a par-72 currently measuring just shy of 7,500 yards. Bermuda grass with rye overseed composes the fairways and rough. Poa trivialis and velvet bentgrass are on the greens.

The course’s main defense is the usual windy conditions predominant here and throughout Texas. There’s room for off-line tee shots and approaches, but going too far astray can lead to native areas and big numbers. Just ask Kevin Na.

Length isn’t a prerequisite to win, but it can give a player an advantage on the par-5s where three play over 590 yards on the card.

Forecasted weather for the week is standard fare for the Texas Open. Temperatures expect to be in the 60s-80s Fahrenheit with winds in the teens miles per hour and a slight chance of rain each day.

The 156-player field is surprisingly strong this week. Four of the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking are present, as well as 22 of the top 25.

I’ll do my best to whittle down the 10 best clicks to pick in this week’s power rankings:
