Tommy Fleetwood comes to the Valero Texas Open looking to get some pre-Masters competitive reps after two weeks off.

The last time we saw the long-locked golfer was at the Players Championship where he took T-35th. Fleetwood played just twice on the Florida swing after a busy first couple of months to start 2024.

It was also a successful start to the year. The Englishman got the best of Rory McIlroy in a Sunday duel to win the DP World Tour’s Dubai Invitational. He added T-14th the next week at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

The win was rewarding for a player who gets knocked for not winning more often.

“It's not going to work out all the time, and it's very, very hard and there are always players that play great and that are going to be hitting great shots,” Fleetwood was transcribed by ASAP Sports in January. “You just have to be there, and like I say, your times will come.”

He’s hoping his time will now come on the PGA Tour.

Fleetwood kept up his strong play at a pair of Signature Events on the PGA Tour’s West Coast swing. He took T-31st at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T-10th at the Genesis Invitational.

He ranks 33rd on the PGA Tour this season in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (.266) and is 52nd in SG: Putting (.272).

I don’t see this being the week Tommy finally gets it done Stateside, but a top-10 finish will pique everyone’s interest leading into Augusta.
