OWGR: 8th. FedEx Cup: 12th. Brian Harman. 2024TexasOpen/PowerRank/5. 5

Brian Harman is a big game hunter off the course. The Georgian is an avid outdoorsman.

He’s becoming a big game hunter on the course, too. Harman is playing some of his best golf as he approaches his 40s. That’s evidenced by his blowout win at the 2023 Open Championship.

He kept a fairly low profile in days since, but the lefty popped back up to nearly win the Players Championship last month.

Harman was the best player at TPC Sawgrass over the final 54 holes, coming back from a mediocre first-round 72 to post 65-64-68 for T-2nd. It took a stunning Sunday 64 by Scottie Scheffler for Harman to not end up in a playoff.

The former Georgia Bulldog is at the Valero Texas Open for the first time since 2019.

He’s no stranger to TPC San Antonio, though. Harman will be making his seventh start at the Oaks Course.

He’s made the cut in four of six starts with three top-25s. The highlight came in 2014 when Harman shot 70-72-75-70 to tie for 16th.

He ranks top-50 on the PGA Tour in all Strokes Gained categories except for Off-the-Tee, where a lack of distance harms him. Harman is 23rd in SG: Total (.884) and 28th in SG: Putting (.448).

Mistakes are inevitable in the breezy conditions expected this week. Harman is a resilient player who ranks seventh in bounce back percentage (32.31%).

He’s also sixth in three-putt avoidance (1.15%) and 24th in one-putt percentage (42.72%).
