ValsparChampionship/PowerRank/8. 8. OWGR: 23rd. FedEx Cup: 45th. Cameron Young

Cameron Young is moseying over to the Valspar Championship for the first time.

It’s far from his first time playing in Florida this season. In fact, he’s teeing it up in all four events of the current Florida swing. The New York state native now calls Jupiter, Florida, home, so it makes sense to squeeze all these in.

It helps that Young is, in fact, young, and can handle all this golf at age 26.

Young has made the cut in all three Florida events thus far, including at The Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches where he took T-4th.

That was his third top-10 of the year to go with solo third at the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he was the 54-hole leader. He also finished T-8th on the PGA Tour at the WM Phoenix Open.

Young has the ball striking to play well this week on the Copperhead course. He’s 11th on the PGA Tour this season in Strokes Gained: Approach (.622). He’s also 30th in SG: Off-the-Tee (.385) and 25th in SG: Tee-to-Green (.744).

From 175-200 yards, Young is seventh in average approach proximity (28’2”).

Young is set to make his 60th career PGA Tour start this week. It might seem like more than that given how he’s gotten into contention so many times, yet has failed to win.

His day looks like it could come soon. I don’t foresee it being this week in Palm Harbor, but Young will get it done in 2024. Mark my words.
