Cameron Young 10. 10. OWGR: 16th. FedEx Cup: 23rd. Cameron Young

This seems like an event and course that suits Cameron Young.

He’s a long, straight hitter who tends to play his best golf on big stages and against elite fields like we’ve got this week at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Last year’s result didn’t shake out as expected, but he still made the cut en route to T-59th (71-70-72-73). Let’s chalk that up to it being his debut.

Young enters the week off of a week of rest following T-62nd at the RBC Heritage, a place that does not suit his play style.

Augusta National is more his speed. The Wake Forest alum recorded his fifth top-10 in 11 starts with T-9th. That came on the heels of solo second place at the Valspar Championship.

Young is arguably the best current in-form player on the PGA Tour without a win. Innisbrook was his sixth runner-up finish since becoming a rookie in 2022.

Young was also the 54-hole leader this year at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic where he dropped to solo third.

Young ranks 11th on the PGA Tour in total driving (96), which combines distance rank (60th) and accuracy (36th). It’s odd to see his accuracy outweigh distance, but he’s dialed back his club head speed this season to find more precision. It’s down from 123.15 to rank sixth to 121.1 to rank 21st.

If you see him at the tournament, be sure to wish him a happy birthday. He turned 27 on the 7th. The best gift he could ask for would be a big check and shiny trophy.
