2024 Wells Fargo Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Quail Hollow
Max Homa is a two-time Wells Fargo Championship winner, though only one came at Quail Hollow.
He won in 2019 at Quail and in 2022 at TPC Potomac, which hosted that year due to the Presidents Cup being at Quail.
Homa putted his way to victory in 2019 by posting 69-63-70-67 to win by three over his friend, Joel Dahmen.
Homa began to show the world his mettle in team golf. He went 4-0-0 to help the Americans roll to victory at the 2022 Presidents Cup.
He followed it up at Quail Hollow by posting T-8th (70-67-68-70) at last year’s Wells Fargo Championship against an elite field similar to this week’s.
“I love this golf course, the tournament is run really well, everything about this place is first class. I love coming to Charlotte. Charlotte's probably my favorite city we go to outside of the California ones,” Homa, a Californian, was transcribed by Tee Scripts in 2023. “The golf course is tremendous and it's in really good shape, so I love coming here.”
Homa enters the week well-rested after last teeing it up at the RBC Heritage (T-55th). A poor week at Harbour Town was a departure from recent form that showed T-25th at the Valero Texas Open and T-3rd at the Masters where he was in contention throughout the tournament.
The 33-year-old ranks 21st on the PGA Tour in average approach proximity from 175-200 yards (30’10”). If Homa can’t get to the par-5s in two, he can lean on his wedges. The former Cal Golden Bear is fifth from 50-125 yards (15’8”).
