2024 Wyndham Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Sedgefield CC

After a week off due to the Olympics, the PGA Tour has its final regular season event in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week. This is the last chance for players to make their playoff push, and only the top 70 players will make the initial event in Memphis.

6) Shane Lowry

The fun-loving Irishman has enjoyed a career year at age 37. Although nothing will compare to his historic triumph on home soil at the 2019 Open, this will be the highest he has finished on the PGA Tour to date. He sits in 10th place after a pair of strong finishes at The Travelers and The Open.

He is sure to have a sour taste in his mouth after shooting a 77 on moving day at The Open to catapult him out of contention and back that up with a lackluster performance at The Olympics.

Yet, Lowry is one of the favorites to win this week, and rightfully so. He has been one of the most consistent players from tee to green all year long. The putter will always be a bit of a question mark, but he has shown the ability to have "peak weeks."

At Sedgefield, he has two top 25s in six tries, and in a weaker field, he should find himself in the mix come Sunday.

5) Thomas Detry

A seasoned vet on the DP World Tour, Detry earned his tour card in 2023. At 31, he has been quietly very steady this season, headlined by five top-ten finishes.

The irons have long been the question mark -- while the putter is almost always the answer for the Belgian. He has solidified himself as one of the game's premier putters, ranking eighth in strokes gained with the flatstick this year. The irons tend to be shaky, but he is coming off two of his best approach performances of the year. A T9 last week at the Olympics shows what can happen when you combine the best of both worlds.

It is fair to say Detry is at a bit of a crossroads in his career. With five top-tens, the next step in his career arc is a breakthrough victory. A win at the Wyndham Championship would do wonders for his trajectory, and certainly put him in position to make the Ryder Cup team in 2025. No Belgian has ever won on the PGA Tour; Detry looks to be the first.
