2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Top 10 power rankings at TPC Louisiana
One of the knocks on the PGA Tour is its rigidity in sticking to 72 holes of stroke play week in and week out.
This week is an exception at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana. We’ve got 80 two-man teams duking it out for the title.
The format began in 2017 and is in its seventh edition. There was no event in 2020 due to the pandemic. Teams play fourball stroke play in the first and third rounds and alternate shot stroke play in the second and fourth.
Top 33 teams and ties make the 36-hole cut.
TPC Louisiana is a Pete Dye course measuring 7,425 yards for a par 72. It features Bermuda grass from tee to green with greens overseeded with poa trivialis and velvet bentgrass.
Good long iron play is useful this week. The par-5s are all reachable but the par-3s are 200-plus yards. The tournament is held during a typically wet, rainy time of the year in the bayou, though this week’s weather forecast looks dry, warm and windy.
Wedged in between majors and without Signature Event status, the Zurich Classic doesn’t typically net a ton of big stars. However, as you’ll see in this week’s power rankings, there are still some players with cache teeing it up this week.
Let’s dive in to the top 10 teams:
