TPC Twin Cities, located 15 miles north of Minneapolis, is a par-71 that plays at 7,431 yards. An Arnold Palmer design, the course was constructed on a former sod farm. It was a yearly staple on the Champions Tour for many years, and it now holds the 3M Open every season for the PGA Tour.

With lush bentgrass fairways and tees, the course is one of the more scenic in the tour rotation and one that the players consistently mention as the most pristine. Water hazards pepper the property, with at least one coming into play on 15 holes. As a result, it is imperative that players do not get awry off the tee.

Lee Hodges ran away with this event last year at -24, but longer hitters have won here in the past, including Tony Finau and Cameron Champ.

After a thrilling major championship last week as well as the Olympics on the horizon, many of the game's top players will be sitting this one out.

The 3M Open marks the beginning of a dry spell for the PGA Tour before the FedEx Cup Playoffs start in mid-August.

As such, players will be trying to position themselves inside the top 70 to qualify for the premier events. Also of note is the Presidents Cup that will be played at Royal Montreal Golf Club in late September. Motivation is certain to play a factor the rest of the way as players from the American and International sides vie to earn a spot.

The two most significant criteria this week are simple -- strokes gained: off the tee and strokes gained: approach.
