3M Open 2024: Top 5 picks to win at TPC Twin Cities
5) Tom Hoge
One of the most underrated ball strikers on tour, this course should suit Hoge's eye for a couple of reasons.
The American is deadly accurate off the tee, albeit sacrificing a decent amount of length, which should help him avoid the water hazards and stay dry.
Many do not think of Tom Hoge when discussing the best iron players in the world, but they certainly should: The American ranks second on the tour in strokes gained on approach shots, only trailing Scottie Scheffler in that department.
Just ask Sahith Theegala, who said Hoge "stripes irons" and that even the slightest of misses will send him into a frenzy of emotion.
When Hoge struggles, the short game is usually the culprit. Luckily for him, the greens at TPC Twin Cities are fairly large, so I would expect him to be near the top of the field in greens in regulation. His short game should not be much of a deterrence this week.
The 35-year-old struggled across the pond, but I would give more attention to his recent T3 at the Travelers Championship. Data Golf has TPC River Highlands and TPC Twin Cities as fairly comparable courses.
Hoge has all the talent in the world, but just one PGA Tour win to show for it. He is playing excellent golf this season, so do not be surprised if he gets his second in Minnesota.
