5 Dark Horses who could win THE PLAYERS Championship in 2024
2. Keith Mitchell (+9000)
Keith Mitchell has had a nice run of results this season so far. The 32-year-old has made the cut in six of his seven starts this year and has finished inside the Top 20 on the leaderboard in four of them, this includes finishing Top 9 in two of those starts.
The most recent came in his last start at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches where he finished T9 at PGA National. That result added to an increasingly impressive resume in the state of Florida for Mitchell whose breakthrough win on the PGA Tour came at the Honda Classic back in 2019.
In addition to his success down the road in Palm Beach Gardens, Keith has had some good showings at THE PLAYERS Championship. He has made the cut at TPC Sawgrass in four of his five visits here and finished T13 at the 2022 PLAYERS Championship.
The University of Georgia product is comfortable in this part of the country and he comes into this week having gained strokes with his approach play in his last six consecutive starts. He is playing some exceptional golf at the right time and that could lead to him picking up his second career win on the PGA Tour sometime soon. He definitely has a dark-horse chance of making that happen this week.
1. Keegan Bradley (+10000)
Keegan Bradley comes into this year's PLAYERS Championship ranked 13th in the Official World Golf Rankings, and yet his odds to win this week don't quite reflect just how good he has been of late.
Bradley ended a four-year wait for a win back in 2022 at the ZOZO Championship. It wasn't long before he followed that performance with another impressive win at the Travelers Championship last June in a signature event. The 37-year-old's win at TPC River Highlands came at a Pete Dye redesign and he has had plenty of success at TPC Sawgrass in the past as well.
Bradley has teed it up at THE PLAYERS Championship five times since 2018 and has finished T16 or better in three of those five starts, including a Top 5 finish here in 2022.
The 2011 PGA Champion has had mixed results so far this year, but he does have two finishes of T11 or better in six starts this season, including a runner-up finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii at the beginning of the year.
Keegan has a solid track record throughout his career in the state of Florida, has had good results at THE PLAYERS in recent years, and comes into this year's edition at TPC Sawgrass playing solid golf overall. There is little reason to think that Bradley cannot be a sneaky contender once again at THE PLAYERS Championship.
