2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson: Top 10 power rankings at TPC Craig Ranch
The king of TPC Craig Ranch is back.
K.H. Lee was unable to pull off a Byron Nelson three-peat last year, but he’s still yet to record a round of par or higher on property. His stroke average in 12 rounds is an absurd 66.5.
Unfortunately at a birdie bonanza such as this, rounds of 70-68-68-67 only netted him T-50th in 2023.
The South Korean won the first edition held at TPC Craig Ranch by three over Sam Burns. Lee carded 65-65-67-66 to win his first PGA Tour event.
In 2022, Lee (64-68-67-63) went a stroke lower for the tournament but had to hold off gallery favorite, Jordan Spieth, by one. That’s about as close to a road game as you can get in this sport.
Lee gained more than 21 strokes Tee-To-Green in those two wins.
“I think tee shot. I hit a really good iron shot and then I think the key here is iron shot, because a lot of guys make a birdie,” Lee was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2022. “So when I hear par-3 or when I tee shot any holes, very, very comfortable, then make more confidence and then it helped this week.”
Riding with Lee is mostly a horse-for-course pick this week. However, he’s quietly got a couple top-10s this year at PGA National (T-4th) and the Valspar Championship (T-9th).
Lee and Michael Kim posted a nice finish last week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, taking T-11th.
Lee ranks 14th on the PGA Tour in average approach proximity from 125-150 yards (21’1”).
