7. OWGR: 23rd. FedEx Cup: 77th. Tom Kim. 2024ByronNelson/PowerRank/7

Tom Kim is back at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson where he competed in the United States for the first time in 2022.

It was a smashing success for the South Korean star who was just 18 years old at the time. Kim turned in rounds of 70-67-66-67 to finish T-17th.

Funny enough, an even younger Kim will make his U.S. debut on the PGA Tour this week in Kris Kim.

Tom Kim returned last year to card four more scores of par or better (71-66-69-65) to take T-34th.

He was 18th in the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (3.114) and 25th in SG: Approach (2.993).

After a rip-roaring 2022 and 2023 for Kim that saw him win three times, 2024 hasn’t been as kind.

He’s seemed to find a little something in his last couple starts. A Sunday 66 at the Masters vaulted him to T-30th.

“…that’s definitely a good momentum thing that I can go into next week, and to kind of see a good round like this in a major and at Augusta,” Kim was transcribed at the Masters by ASAP Sports. “I haven't really had the best of starts, and to see this round and see the hard work pay off, it's good.”

Kim kept the momentum going by posting T-18th at the RBC Heritage in his last start a couple weeks ago against most of those same big names he saw in Georgia.

Kim is a Dallas area resident who knows TPC Craig Ranch well.

After a middling start to the season, I envision Kim continuing his return to form and taking advantage of a weak field this week.
