2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson: Top 10 power rankings at TPC Craig Ranch
Stephan Jaeger’s win at the Texas Children's Houston Open continues to appreciate in value.
He’s been the only one to defeat Scottie Scheffler in the last month.
Staring down the world No. 1 player to secure your first PGA Tour victory has to be satisfying.
It led to the UT-Chattanooga alum qualifying for his first Masters. Jaeger missed the cut, but he bounced back a week later for T-18th at the RBC Heritage.
The German is now up to five top-20s and three top-threes. Jaeger’s performance at Memorial Park was redeeming after he squandered a golden opportunity at Torrey Pines where he led on Sunday before settling for T-3rd.
The 34-year-old has been playing great golf for over a year now and has great numbers that supersede his reputation as a household name. Jaeger is 12th in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (.391), 15th in SG: Total (.957), and 19th in SG: Tee-to-Green (.891).
Jaeger has also gotten longer. He ranks 22nd (308.2) in driving distance, up from 50th (306.1) last season.
This will be Jaeger’s third appearance at TPC Craig Ranch. He’s 2-for-2 making the cut with T-38th (71-65-65-72) in 2022 and T-11th (67-71-65-63) in 2023.
Last year, Jaeger was T-11th in the field in SG: Off-the-Tee (3.775) and 16th in SG: Putting (4.376). He was also tied for most birdies (26).
It’s already a career year for Jaeger and it’s not even halfway over. It’s too bad for him it’s not a Ryder Cup year because another win would have him on the radar to make Luke Donald’s squad.
