MexicoOpen/PowerRank/2. 2. OWGR: 40th. FedEx Cup: 32nd. Emiliano Grillo

The Argentinian Emiliano Grillo gets to speak his native tongue this week playing the Mexico Open at Vidanta.

That’s one sense of comfort. Another is returning to a course Grillo seems to have taken a liking to.

He debuted here in 2022 with T-33rd (72-65-71-69) and vaulted up to T-5th (68-68-67-65) in 2023.

Grillo moved up five spots on the leaderboard on Sunday last year. He led the field on the week in Strokes Gained: Approach (9.582) and was ninth in SG: Putting (4.517).

He putted well all last season where he finished 23rd in SG: Putting (.678).

It was a successful year for Grillo in 2023. He won for the second time in his career and first since 2015 when he prevailed at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Grillo posted six top-10s last year.

He’s already got one in the bag in 2024 with some other good results in hand.

The 31-year-old took T-7th at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Grillo added top-25s in consecutive weeks at the Farmers Insurance Open (T-20th), AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (T-14th), and WM Phoenix Open (T-22nd).

One point of concern could be this is his fifth straight week playing and seventh in the last eight.

Grillo’s last result was T-44th last week at the Genesis Invitational. He at least ended on a high note with his best round of the week coming on Sunday where he carded a 2-under 69 featuring a 19-foot birdie putt on the par-3 14th.
