Stock down: Rory McIlroy

3,634 days and counting. That is how long it has been since Rory McIlroy won a major championship.

McIlroy's last two major championships have been eventful, to say the least, but not in the way that he would have hoped.

After suffering an agonizing defeat at the hands of Bryson DeChambeau in the US Open, Rory McIlroy set his sights on Royal Troon to break his major championship drought.

Unfortunately for the Northern Irishman, he posted a first-round 78 and second-round 75 to miss the cut by five strokes. His 11 over-par score is the highest 36-hole score at a major championship since his performance at Muirfield in 2013.

"Twenty-two holes into the event, and I'm thinking about where I'm going to go on vacation next week," McIlroy conceded.

It will be a torturous nine-month wait for McIlroy as he will look to conquer a place that has not been kind to him throughout his career. On to Augusta.
