OWGR: 39th. Best PGA finish: 1st (2018, 2019, 2023). Brooks Koepka. 2024PGA/PowerRank/2. 2

The big game hunter is here to defend his title.

Brooks Koepka strolled into Oak Hill Country Club last year and racked his third PGA Championship and fifth major title. He defeated Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland who finished two shots back. It was a tight race, particularly with Hovland, well into Sunday before Koepka surged at the finish line.

Whether or not Koepka comes into a major championship in good form, he continues to be a threat at age 34.

Last year, Koepka recorded a third-place finish the week prior to the PGA at LIV Tulsa.

This year, LIV took the week off before the PGA Championship.

His last start came at LIV Singapore, where he was a winner for the fourth time since joining the Saudi circuit in 2022.

It was his second top-10 in as many weeks with 10th place in Adelaide the week prior after some poor results the previous two tournaments.

“Yeah, it's all starting to come around. I've put in a lot of work. I feel like on the golf course, off the golf course, it's been a good two weeks, to say the least,” Koepka was transcribed by ASAP Sports. “Take a week off and then grinding pretty hard with Claude over the last few days, I thought that was very important. Kind of started to see it turn maybe Wednesday, Thursday of Adelaide, so to see it pay off here is huge.”

Koepka ranks at or above average in most statistics on LIV. He’s sixth in greens in regulation (74.34%), eighth in birdies (4.62), and 14th in scrambling (65.98%).

The former Florida State Seminole has a legendary resume at majors. His five wins don’t tell the whole story.

In 39 career starts, he’s made 34 cuts with 18 top-10s. That’s a lot of yellow (and green) on the Wikipedia page.

Valhalla seems to be a course that plays into his strengths. Koepka pipes it out at a 304.7-yard average to rank 14th on LIV. He has power reserves to go much farther than that when needed.

He’s also accurate for a bomber but has the power to hack it out of the rough and finesse to get up and down as needed.
