2024 PGA Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Valhalla
Tommy Fleetwood is flashing some nice form heading into the second major championship of the year.
At last month’s Masters, the Englishman made himself a lot of money with a Sunday 69 that vaulted him up to T-3rd. It was definitely a backdoor result, but he’s still been a much improved major player in recent memory.
Fleetwood has finished in the top-10 in golf’s big four events three times in a row after recording just five top-10s in his first 31 tries.
“You just keep playing. You never know what's around the corner. But yeah, I loved it this week,” Fleetwood was transcribed by ASAP Sports after the Masters. “It was great being out late on the Sunday and playing a good round of golf, and just another major championship where you're at the right end of the leaderboard at the end of the week. Who knows if my time will ever come, but all I can do is keep trying to put myself there and keep having performances like this, and then we'll see.”
Ever the optimist is Fleetwood.
He has a reason to maintain a sunny demeanor these days. Fleetwood won early in the year on the DP World Tour and has just one missed cut in 2024.
The 33-year-old has held up well at the PGA Tour’s Signature Events, claiming T-10th at the Genesis Invitational and T-13th last week at the Wells Fargo Championship.
He also was T-7th at the Valero Texas Open.
Fleetwood’s PGA Tour stats rank him 10th in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green (.45). His ball striking stats don’t look too appealing, but they’d be much better if his DP World Tour and Masters results were included.
