Jon Rahm. 2024PGA/PowerRank/4. 4. OWGR: 5th. Best PGA finish: T-4th (2018)

It’s been a bit of a confounding debut season on LIV for Jon Rahm.

Those who suspected he would go in and dominate the Saudi-backed circuit were mistaken. He’s yet to win in seven starts.

If you told me he wouldn’t finish worse than 14th in any of those seven starts, I would’ve told you he was dominating.

It’s a classic glass half full or glass half empty scenario.

Rahm was unable to turn it on in the first major championship of the year. Defending at the Masters is tricky. Some grace can be allowed there.

It’ll really be interesting to see how he responds at the PGA Championship. The 29-year-old Spaniard can check off the third leg of the career Grand Slam with a win this week at Valhalla.

This is statistically Rahm’s worst of the four majors, which is saying something considering he’s made six of seven cuts with two top-10s and a 13th.

At the majors on the hole, the Arizona State alum is 26-for-30 making the cut with two wins and 12 top-10s. Seeing him limp to a T-45th finish at Augusta National was surprising.

This season on LIV, Rahm leads in birdies per round (5.24). He’s got the distance to take on a potentially soft and definitely long golf course this week, ranking fifth at 312.9 yards per drive.

If he can keep his temper in check and not let the frustration of zero wins in the last year-plus affect him, Rahm is certainly a threat to hoist the Wanamaker trophy come Sunday.
