Texas Children's Houston Open DraftKings picks 2024: Best PGA DFS golf lineup
With the completion of the 2024 Florida Swing officially in the books, the PGA Tour returns to the Lone Star State for the Texas Children's Houston Open.
The Texas Children's Houston Open marks the first of two events in Texas before the first major of the year takes place at Augusta National in a little over two weeks. Memorial Park GC, a public course in Houston, will host the PGA Tour for a fourth time in 2024. The Tom Doak design (with assistance from five-time major winner Brooks Koepka) last hosted the Houston Open in November 2022.
After his win at Memorial Park in 2022, Tony Finau returns to the Texas Children's Houston Open looking to defend his title and in the process pick up his first win on the PGA Tour in 2024. Finau and the rest of this week's field will attempt to deny World No.1, Scottie Scheffler, a third consecutive win on tour following his masterful performance at THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago.
The 2022 Masters champion will be joined this week by Finau, Sahith Theegala, Will Zalatoris, Wyndham Clark, and Jason Day, amongst the contingent of favorites heading into this year's edition of the Texas Children's Houston Open.

To Scottie Scheffler or not? That is the first dilemma when it comes to constructing DFS lineups this week. Let's examine each range on DraftKings this week and highlight some players who could excel at Memorial Park in each tier before finishing with our best DraftKings DFS lineup for the 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open.
Texas Children's Houston Open DraftKings Picks: Top plays for DFS lineups
$10K + Range: Scottie Scheffler ($13,000) - This week there are four players priced at 10,000 or greater on DraftKings and it comes as no surprise to anyone to see Scottie Scheffler at the top of this range. Scheffler is very much in a tier of his own this week, and for good reason. You could choose to be different and leave out the best player in the world at the moment but I think that is overthinking things.
Scheffler is the overwhelming betting favorite this week, and he returns to his home state on the heels of consecutive wins in his last two starts. The World No.1 has played the Texas Children's Houston Open in each of the last three seasons and has finished T2 and T9 in his last two starts at Memorial Park. Also Consider: Wyndham Clark ($10,900), Will Zalatoris ($10,100)
$9K Range: Jason Day ($9,500) - Day returns to the Texas Children's Houston Open this week for a fourth consecutive season. The Australian has made the cut on each of his three previous trips to Memorial Park GC and has finished T7 and T16 on two of those occasions. The 2015 PGA Champion ranks 28th on the PGA Tour this season in Total Strokes Gained and has only lost strokes in that department on one occasion this season; at the Farmers Insurance Open in January. Jason has been playing some excellent golf in 2024 and he comes into this week having already accumulated three Top 10 finishes or better in seven starts. Also Consider: Si Woo Kim ($9,700), Alex Noren ($9,400)
$8K Range: Billy Horschel ($8,300) - It may not be the week of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play anymore, but Horschel is rounding into form just in time for his return to Texas nonetheless. Horschel will make his first start at the Texas Children's Houston Open this week in search of his first win since the 2022 Memorial Tournament. The seven-time career winner finished Top 13 or better in two of his three starts during this year's Florida Swing, the most recent of which came at last week's Valspar Championship. He quietly ranks 7th in Greens in Regulation percentage this season and has gained strokes on approach in three of his last four starts on tour. Also Consider: Stephan Jaeger ($8,900)
$7K Range: Ben Griffin ($7,600) - Griffin had a nice start to the season before tailing off a bit over the past month or so, but a T17 result at last week's Valspar Championship may indicate he has found that early-season form once again. Griffin recorded four rounds of 71 or better on a difficult course last week at Innisbrook and while he has struggled off the tee at times this season, should be helped out in that area this week by the wide fairways in play at Memorial Park. He finished T16 in his debut at the course in 2022 and if he can carry over his form from last week into this week's Texas Children's Houston Open he could very well be in store for another excellent week. Also Consider: Taylor Moore ($7,600), Luke List ($7,500), K.H. Lee ($7,400)
$6K Range: Sam Stevens ($6,400) - The ability to drive the ball far is always useful, but especially so on a layout that reaches beyond 7,400 yards. Stevens is one of the best this season in that department (29th in Driving Distance). The Texan made the cut on his debut at Memorial Park in 2022 and has found success in the Lone Star State previously, most notably at last year's Valero Texas Open where Stevens finished runner-up to two-time winner Corey Conners. He has been a bit hit or miss with recent form but has the skill set required to excel in the state of Texas once again. Also Consider: Taylor Pendrith ($6,600), Matti Schmid ($6,300), Chris Gotterup ($6,100)
$5K Range: Parker Coody ($5,700) - The University of Texas product has shown flashes throughout the 2024 season already and is worth taking a flier on in his home state. Coody has made the cut in five of his seven starts on the PGA Tour this season, including collecting two Top 25 finishes or better at both this year's Farmers Insurance Open and Mexico Open at Vidanta. Parker quietly ranks 12th in SG: Approach on the PGA Tour this season. Also Consider: Cole Hammer ($5,100)
Texas Children's Houston Open 2024: Best PGA DraftKings Lineup
PGA DFS Pick | DraftKings Price |
---|---|
Scottie Scheffler | $13,000 |
Jason Day | $9,500 |
Stephan Jaeger | $8,900 |
Sam Stevens | $6,400 |
Matti Schmid | $6,300 |
Parker Coody | $5,700 |
Remaining Salary | $200 |
Throwing in our favorite cheap play of the week Parker Coody gives us the ability to include Scottie Scheffler as well as several other of our favorite plays for this week. Both Day and Jaeger give the lineup high-upside picks, while skipping over the entire 7K range should keep the build relatively unique.
Matti Schmid ($6,300) completes the lineup and allows us to leave $200 on the table. While Schmid will be making his debut at the Texas Children's Houston Open this week, he comes in on the back of some excellent results in recent starts. The German has made the cut in each of his last three starts and has finished T26 or better on all three occasions. Schmid is playing excellent golf and I'll look to ride that form and hope for another solid finish at a terrific value.
