On Monday night, Boston Common (1-0-0) teed off against The Bay Golf Club (0-1-0), with Min Woo Lee making his 2026 TGL season debut for the latter.

Shane Lowry and Wyndham Clark joined him, as they faced the same roster from Boston's first match (Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Michael Thorbjornsen). Boston looked to continue its hot start to the year as the Bay looked to regain its winning ways from last season.

Triples

The first hole was a sign of things to come for Min Woo Lee and the Bay Golf Club as he chunked his 7-iron into the water, giving Boston an early lead.

Boston's only mistake of the match came on the next hole as Keegan Bradley hit his 3-wood into the water, giving the Bay the hole and tying the match. Shane Lowry drained a clutch nine-footer on the fourth hole to turn away a Boston Hammer and keep the score level, but it marked the Bay’s final moment of resistance.

On the fifth hole, Lee's TGL rust continued to show as he found the water yet again to give Boston a 2-1 lead.

On the very next hole, McIlroy hit a fantastic wedge to within two feet of the hole, prompting a Hammer throw from the Boston team. The Bay wisely declined as they still had over a 10-foot putt for birdie to tie the hole. Thorbjornsen once again rolled in a long putt to win the next hole, and Boston closed the alternate-shot portion by taking the final hole after Wyndham Clark missed a five-foot putt.

Singles

The singles portion of the match began the same way the triples ended, with a win from Boston. McIlroy and Boston took advantage of yet another Bay misplay by throwing the Hammer after a sloppy chip from Lowry.

This gave them a commanding 6-1 lead, which prompted a Hammer throw from the Bay before the tee shot on hole 11. Lee's iron game failed him again by missing the green after Thorbjornsen put his approach shot just off the green. Both players ended with a par, essentially ending the Bay's night.

Boston continued to add insult to injury as they won the next hole, as Clark found the penalty area yet again. Lowry conceded the next hole to McIlroy as it was his turn to find the penalty area. On hole 14,
Thorbjornsen captured yet another point as Lee was unable to make a putt to give them a 9-1 lead.

On the last hole, Clark had an opportunity to make the score somewhat respectable with two points up for grabs, but he missed it, ending the embarrassing night for the Bay, a night Lowry certainly wasn't happy about.

"“You just hate losing, don’t you? It’s probably worse losing to one of your friends. I was paired with (McIlroy) in the final round at Pebble last year when he beat me there and it hurts a little bit more because you want it so bad. It’s obviously a little different dynamic out here than it is on the PGA TOUR, but you’re still out there wanting to win and we certainly didn’t do that tonight.”"
Shane Lowry

Boston's putting has not been the only success for them to start this 2026 season. The Ballfrogs lead the TGL by hitting the green 14 times on their second shot on par-5s. They have taken advantage of the distances and accuracy of McIlroy and Thorbjornsen to begin this year and are in sole possession of first place.
