Jupiter Links (0-0-0) made their TGL season debut on Tuesday night, while New York Golf Club (0-1-0) looked for its first victory after taking a loss to Atlanta in the season opener.
Jupiter's roster was comprised of Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia, who was making his first-ever appearance in the TGL, while New York sent out Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, and Rickie Fowler, who made his season debut.
However, all eyes were on a golfer who didn't take a single swing, as Tiger Woods was in attendance to serve as Jupiter's coach, while also offering an update on his health and his thoughts on the return of Brooks Koepka to the PGA Tour.
Tiger Woods talks his health and the return of Brooks Koepka
Tiger Woods talked during a pre-game interview with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt about his recovery from a back surgery last year. Woods revealed that he received clearance from his doctors to begin swinging mid-irons. He does not have a timeline for returning to play in any tournaments and said his recovery has been slow.
Although, as a golf fan, it was just good to see him walking around and enjoying himself at this match. Woods also shared his views on Brooks Koepka's return to the PGA Tour, saying it was good to have him back and that the stipulations for his return were fair and justified.
Triples
Jupiter Links accomplished something on the very first hole this year that they were unable to do all of last year: win the first point.
Woods threw the Hammer on the green of the first hole and won the point when New York declined. Max Homa and Kevin Kisner spent the night reining in Woods, who was eager to throw the Hammer at every opportunity. Jupiter continued their fast start by winning three of the first four holes and going out to a 3-1 lead.
The fourth hole would be the last point that Jupiter would earn, as New York grabbed momentum and didn't give it back.
The turning point occurred on the fifth hole when Jupiter was assessed a shot clock violation when Kevin Kisner did not get his putt off in time. New York went on to win that hole and then throw two Hammers on holes eight and nine to win those points as well. They ended up taking three of the last four holes, which sent them to a 5-3 lead after the Triples portion of play.
Singles
New York continued its dominance in Singles play as well, with Matt Fitzpatrick winning hole 11 with a birdie against Max Homa.
The match concluded on hole 13, as Jupiter Links threw a Hammer before teeing off, automatically making that hole worth two points. Rickie Fowler, who stated that "No. 1 was my first real competitive drive since August,” shook off some early rust to make a 14-foot birdie putt to defeat Bhatia and Jupiter Links.

New York has now won the same number of holes as Atlanta Drive GC after their second match. They were hands down the better team all night, as Kevin Kisner once again made many errors that opened the door for New York.
Although Jupiter did lose, they looked much better in this match than they did all of last season. Woods and company are hoping to improve in the point totals this year and make a push for the playoffs.
Looking Ahead
Jupiter Links (0-1-0) is back in action next week to take on Los Angeles Golf Club (0-1-0), with both teams looking for their first win. LAGC will be heavily favored heading into next week's matchup on Tuesday, January 20th at 7:00 PM EST on ESPN.
