The first 36 holes of the 2025 edition of The Masters are in the books, and the weekend at Augusta National Golf Club is shaping up to be an all-time classic.
Heading into Saturday's third round, 15 players are within five shots of leader Justin Rose, who couldn't quite match the firepower he had during Thursday's opening-round 65 but scratched and clawed his way to a 1-under 71 on Friday, thus putting him at 8-under heading into the weekend.
But despite sitting alone atop the leaderboard for the second straight day, Rose is not the betting favorite to slip on the green jacket come Sunday evening. In fact, the Englishman isn't even in the top three, holding the fourth-shortest odds at +800.
Sitting one spot ahead of Rose is defending champion Scottie Scheffler, who made five bogeys on Friday but still fired a 1-under 71 thanks to six birdies on his scorecard. The world No. 1 is one of four players sitting three shots back at 5-under and enters the third round with +360 odds to win a third green jacket in four years.
Taking the top two spots are Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, who are actually co-favorites at +330.
McIlroy, who gave away four shots down the stretch on Thursday en route to an even-par 72, bounced back beautifully in Round 2, making four birdies and an incredible eagle on the way to a bogey-free 66.
At 6-under for the week, Rory sits only two back of his Ryder Cup teammate in a tie for third with Corey Conners, who currently owns the fifth-shortest odds at +1200.
DeChambeau, who was tied for the lead at this point in the tournament a year ago, will play alongside Rose in the final pairing on Saturday after shooting a 4-under 68 on Friday to get to 7-under.
