We typically only do these articles when there is something special going on. Like, for example, when DraftKings did the Millionaire Maker for the majors.

DraftKings isn’t doing anything special this week. It’s still the standard put down $3 bucks and have a chance to turn it into $100,000.

However, after a successful showing at the majors these type of articles are back by popular demand. We’ll do these articles throughout the FedEx Cup Playoffs (unless, of course, there isn’t a fantasy game for the Tour Championship at East Lake) and we’ll see how it goes from there.

This week is interesting as there really isn’t a whole lot that stands out in terms of stats. Usually, there will be a handful of stats that you’ll want to target, but that really isn’t the case this week.

When Plainfield Country Club hosted The Barclays back in 2011, Dustin Johnson won. Right away you might be thinking to target long hitters, but that isn’t really the case.

The rest of the leaderboard in 2011 consisted of shorter hitters. Okay, so that means target golfers that will hit the fairway, right? Well, not exactly. Of the top golfers only two actually ranked in the top ten in fairway accuracy.

Alright, so what the heck should I be looking for then? Good question. I would say targeting superb wedge players is probably your best bet. Greens aren’t hard to hit here, but they are typical Donald Ross greens that are hard and undulating. Being as close to the hole should pay off.

Speaking of Donald Ross, if you want to think outside the box, I would target golfers that typically do well on Ross designs. Last week is a good starting off point.

I would even take a look back at the U.S. Open last year and the PGA Championship in 2013. Both Pinehurst and Oak Hill were designed by Ross and I would check the leaderboard at those tournaments to see if there is some correlation and if you are seeing some of the same names pop up.

Now that we set the table, let’s give this a nice overview and go over The Barclays DraftKings fantasy picks.
