Caroline Hedwall (Sweden), currently ranked #25 by Rolex, the uncontested MVP on either team, was the first player in Solheim history to go 5-0 in her matches.  Hedwall’s on the top of my list of probable high performers at The Evian.  Hedwall turned pro in 2011.  At the beginning of 2012 Rolex ranked her at #47.  She recorded 2 top-10 finishes but no victories.  To date, she’s accumulated 4 top-10s in 2013, but still no victories.  It’s only a matter of time.  She’s playing this weekend at The Helsingborg Open, a few miles from home, and is 4 shots off the first round lead.

Hedwall plays an aggressive and confident game of golf.  At the Solheim she looked fresh for all five matches.  A turned-up training program paid off.  Early in the Solheim, putting was Hedwall’s biggest strength on Colorado Golf Club’s quick greens, and she’s a power player off the tee and on the fairway as well.  Her technical game’s superb and if she came bring the Solheim boost to her mental game at The Evian she’s going to be crowding out the top of the board.
