When 21 year-old Jordan Spieth took his golf game to the Pacific Rim, he had accomplished everything on his list for the 2014 Golf season except for wining two tournaments. He came up one shot short in Japan, and when he got to Sydney for the Australian Open he would need to win in Sydney, and the Hero Challenge to make his year complete.

By the time he lifted the Tiger Trophy on Sunday afternoon at Isleworth Country Club, he completed the list with his second win in 2014, and showed the world that he will be a contender when the 2015 season gets started next month.

The Hero Challenge was not a PGA sanctioned event, so the $1 Million Dollar check he picked up for his runaway win at the Hero Challenge will not count toward his 2015 earnings total, and he was not able to add any FedEx Cup points, but it did carry Official World Golf Ranking(OWGR) points.

His big win on the world stage at the Australian Open last week, along with the win on Sunday against 17 of the top players in the world, Jordan Spieth has moved him from 15th, to number nine.

One of his goals in 2015 is to get to number one, and with the 10-shot win at Windemere, he is only eight positions back. He has served notice to Rory McIlroy that he is coming.

I heard on Morning Drive that Jordan will be taking six weeks to rest, and we will probably not see him until The Farmers Insurance at Torrey Pines. He has played a lot of golf since deciding to earn his tour card the hard way, through sponsor exemptions last year.

He won his first tournament at the John Deere Classic last year, which validated his earlier 2013 winnings, and Fed Ex Cup points. It also earned him a trip to the Open Championship, and a place on the Presidents Cup team.

Spieth did not win a PGA event in 2014, so he will not be eligible for the Tournament of Champions next month in Hawaii, so it will be interesting to see how he plays when he returns in San Diego.

The naysayers on television say that Jordan Spieth does not have the power to dominate on the tour against the world-class players, but at age 21, he still has some body developement to come.

His win in Australia, although it was on the world stage, was not nearly as impressive as his victory yesterday at Isleworth. He was able to play his game against some pretty good players.

His loss to Bubba Watson at the Masters in April was not so much a loss to the big hitter that Waston is, as it was to making some poor shots as a critical time.

Jordan made a bad decision at the eighth hole, and it affected the next three holes where Bubba capitalized, and came out on top.

Jordan Spieth is a breath of fresh air that the PGA Tour needs at this time. With Rory McIlroy playing well, and the return of Tiger Woods, golf fans should have a great 2015 season that will include Jordan Spieth.
