WGC-Cadillac Championship Fantasy Sleeper Picks

The WGC-Cadillac Championship always serves as a great appetizer to what’s to come next month. This is a big event. This is a notable, major-like event that everybody wants to win.

There’s a lot on the line for the golfers and there’s a lot on the line for fantasy golf players, as well. Since you’re reading this article, I’m sure you’re well aware that this week over on DraftKings 100K is the top prize for the winner of the PGA $300K Miami Classic.

It’s some real life changing stuff. So, hopefully, this article helps you win some money and, hey, maybe even the top price.

With this being an exclusive field of nothing but the best golfers on the planet, there are – predictably – a ton of golfers I like this week.

For example, you could make multiple teams from just the $7,000-$6,000 dollar range and they might end up making you money this week.

You have golfers such as: Ryan Palmer, Zach Johnson, Charl Schwartzel, Hunter Mahan, Billy Horschel, and Ryan Moore to choose from. That’s six right there and that’s just scratching the surface of the golfers in this price range.

This is a unique week where, to an extent (obviously), salary isn’t that big of a factor. You can take just about anybody you want. Plus, you throw in the fact there is no cut and you can go crazy with your lineups.

It is worth nothing that whoever you pick – more than likely – they’ll play all four rounds. You still have to beware of the withdraw. If a golfer isn’t playing well, they develop an injury, whatever it maybe, they can still withdraw; nothing is guaranteed.

This is the kind of tournament where you should love  your team. If you don’t, scrap it and try again.

Whatever six golfers you end up picking for your lineup this week, this is the kind of tournament where you should love your team. If you don’t, scrap it and try again.

With all that said, in order to keep this from going overboard, the WGC-Cadillac Championship fantasy sleeper picks are just going to be focusing on the golfers below the $6,000 range. The kind of golfers you will need to have if you are going to have Rory McIlroy in your lineup.

John Senden– Winds should be a factor once again this week. Maybe not as much as last week, but still significant enough that it’s worth mentioning.

Senden is a great wind player and was an extremely good sleeper pick last year down the stretch. He carried that momentum to the start of this year. He finished T-18 at the Shriners Open, and 7th at the CIMB Classic.

Since the calendar turned over to 2015, Senden has come out of the gates slowly. His best finish, technically, has been a T-25 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, but you have to remember only 34 golfers participated in that tournament.

Legitimately, his best finish so far this year was a T-49 at the Farmers Insurance Open. While his results haven’t been there, a T-49 at Torrey Pines is a positive result. Torrey Pines is a tough course, like the Blue Monster will be this week, and it showed that he still has it.

Stephen Gallacher– The flyer pick last week paid off. Stephen Gallacher was able to grind it out at the Honda Classic, make the cut, and finish T-41. Gallacher is a quality player, has played well this year, and he did finish T-6 last year at the redesigned Blue Monster.

The only thing I would be leery of is the fact that he did make the cut last week and things are thrown off just a little bit. Having to play on Monday at the Honda Classic takes away preparation time for this week.

It might not be that big of a deal, but it’s still something worth keeping in the back of your mind when making your lineups this week.

Joost Luiten– Rounding out the sleeper picks this week is Joost Luiten. I go back to what I said atop that salary isn’t that big of a factor this week. If you take McIlroy you’ll have to take a couple of golfers really low, but the really low golfers are really quality golfers. It’s that kind of week where you can be really flexible.

Nabbing someone like Luiten at $5,700 is an absolute steal. Luiten is a really quality player and he can pull a Patrick Reed and steal the show. He has that sort of talent.
