Monday at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship

Going into Monday 3rd round play at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship there are two cuts and an individual championship at stake. The final round of stroke play will be broadcast live on Golf Channel. Here’s how things stand at this point.

The field took shape Sunday with all but six teams completing play at The Concession Golf Club despite an afternoon weather delay with top-ranked Southern California holding a three-stroke lead on No. 4 Duke for first place with stroke play winding down.
No. 24 Alabama used another top-flight effort from the field’s individual leader, Emma Talley, to hold onto 15th place, a stroke ahead of 16th place UCLA, three strokes behind Wake Forest in 14th, and four strokes behind South Carolina for 13th.

Talley added a 73 (+1) on the 6,468-yard, par-72 course to improve her three-round score to 216, securing her spot in Sunday’s round. She and the Crimson Tide will be in the clubhouse as the other three teams finish respective rounds, determining the final spots Sunday.
The USC Trojans and Duke Blue Devils will join No. 12 Tennessee (fourth place), No. 2 South Carolina (13th place), No. 11 Wake Forest (14th place) and No. 3 UCLA (16th place) in finishing up the final five holes of the third round on Monday at 7:30 a.m. ET, at which point the field will be cut from 24 teams and 12 individuals to the top 15 teams, and nine individuals not on an advancing team.
The fourth round will begin at 10:50 a.m. Following the fourth round, the individual champion will be determined as well as the eight teams advancing to Tuesday’s match play quarterfinals.
No. 5 Arizona is one of nine teams already set to advance to the fourth round, putting together a solid round on Sunday to slide into third place overall, 13 strokes behind Southern California when darkness ended the Trojans’ night. Arizona used a 70 (-2) from sophomore Wanasa Zhou to shoot 294 (+6), jumping four spots as a team and sitting three strokes ahead of fourth place Tennessee.
Zhou rolled through the first 13 holes without a bogey, knocking down birdies on the par 3 fourth and 11th holes. A bogey on 14 was the lone miscue in an otherwise flawless round as the Australian birdied 17 as well to tie for the lowest score of the day.
Playing as an individual, Arizona State’s Monica Vaughn shot one stroke under par through 17 holes, moving into second place behind Talley by a single stroke. Vaughn birdied three consecutive holes from 10 to 12, and is one stroke over par for the tournament. Southern California’s Annie Park sits in third at two strokes over par, with Duke’s Leona Maguire at three strokes under par.
