Lydia Ko is coming into The Evian hot off her win at the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, an amazing hat trick of back-to-back-to-back title defenses.  But then Ko’s been hot all year — recording 11 top-10 finishes out of 18 starts, and three of those top-10s were wins.

  • But Lydia Ko seems to be having a problem putting that extraordinary game of hers to work at majors.  She finished T51 at the ANA Inspiration, missed the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and finished T12 at the US Women’s Open.  Her T3 finish at the RICOH Women’s British Open could be a signal that she’s ready to leap that mental hurdle, and if that’s the case, then Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis are going to face some serious competition from the teenager.

This will be Ko’s third Evian Championship appearance.  She finished runner-up to Suzann Pettersen in 2013 and I’m thinking that runner-up finish may provide the mental edge she needs to override the Major Jitters that have plagued her.
