$9,800 to $8,000

There are only three golfers in the $9,000 dollar range, so we’ll just combine that and the $8,000 golfers in this range.

The three golfers in the $9,000 dollar range are great pick ups. You have three superb ball-strikers in Justin Rose ($9,800), Zach Johnson ($9,500), and Matt Kuchar ($9,200).

Ideally, it would be nice to stick these three and Furyk on a team and you’re all set. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that.

  • Looking down in the $8,000 dollar range, I like Hideki Matsuyama ($8,900) and Sergio Garcia ($8,600). Matsuyama I believe was feeling a bit fatigued as he had played a lot this year. Kind of like what Spieth is/was going through.

Matsuyama missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship and then bounced back with a T-13 and T-25 at The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship. With a week off, the batteries might be recharged and Matsuyama should be competing this Sunday.

Garcia on the other hand is well rested. He will be participating in his first FedEx Cup Playoff event this year. Conway Farms should suit his game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Garcia win this event, move up into the top five and steal the FedEx Cup Championship away.

If that happened, it would probably force the PGA Tour into making some much needed tweaks to the FedEx Cup system. Matt Cochran talked about this the other day and I would implore you to check that out.

While Conway Farms doesn’t fit Brooks Koepka’s ($8,200) game with no cut this week, taking a birdie machine like Koepka isn’t the worst thing you can do on your DraftKings team.

Koepka could shot a 75-75 on Thursday and Friday, but if grabs a couple of eagles in the process and then shoots a 62 on Saturday, well, he is piling up the points. So, keep that in mind.

Hunter Mahan ($8,000) is an interesting pick. Mahan stepped his game up at the Deutsche Bank Championship a couple of weeks back. We saw that Mahan has the passion to continue his streak of playing in every single FedEx Cup Playoff event.
