LPGA Player of the Year: Five Who Could Challenge Inbee Park

I’ve been watching the back and forth battle between Inbee Park and Lydia Ko all year and while on the surface neither of them seems particularly focused on this ongoing struggle for hegemony, as a fan I’ve certainly been aware of how things are progressing.

Ko’s trailing Park by a mere 19 points and this particular race could flip flop back and forth between them several times between now and when the last putt drops in Naples in November.

In the end I look for Park to stay ahead of Ko simply because she has a greater capacity to maintain focus. If Lewis gets a quick win to jump start her late season, and if Park stumbles, then the LPGA Player of the Year race will reconfigure.

Let’s sit back and see how things unfold in Malaysia and beyond.
