I’m not sure there has been U.S. Open victory more overshadowed than Geoff Ogilvy’s in 2006. Everyone will forever remember Phil Mickelson’s epic collapse rather than Ogilvy’s first major victory.

Lefty needed a par on the 72nd hole to win the major and a bogey to tie Ogilvy. Mickelson made a mess of the hole and finished with double bogey, handing the trophy over to the Australian. All people could talk about was how bad Phil choked and forgot Ogilvy even won. I’m sure he didn’t care, though.
While he may fly under the radar of many, his mustache stands out from the competition. The Aussie doesn’t rock the lip toupee that much anymore, but it sure was a thing of beauty when he did.
So simple, yet so powerful.
