Now relegated to using a conventional length putter, does Keegan Bradley still having a fighting chance at the Nedbank Golf Challenge?

With a top 10 in his last start, the Vermont native is in pretty good form, but we all know that equipment transitions can be hard, especially ones of this nature.

It’s hardly the first instance of having mixed feelings about a player. In her fantasy picks yesterday, my colleague Beth Bethel was a bit ambivalent about Jaco Van Zyl’s chances at the Nedbank Golf Challenge this week–she liked them but just couldn’t make room for him on her list of ten. That’s where I come in–this week, I’ve got five fantasy sleepers who, while maybe not the most obvious names, have a great chance to make an impact this week.

Of course, making that impact will be easier at Gary Player Country Club than it is at almost every other tournament around the world. With just 30 invitees (bumped up from a minuscule 12 in 2013), the Nedbank is among the most exlusive events in the world–although judging from its $6.5 million purse, you might not guess that. Thus, we’ll get to see some familiar faces on a familiar course competing for familiarly large checks, all without much fluff–for golf fans, that’s a real treat, especially this time of year.

Consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in the world, Player’s masterpiece of a golf course measures out at almost 8,000 yards and has hosted the Nedbank for years. The World Golf Hall of Famer has designed hundreds of tracks around the world, but this is the only one that bears his name, a testament to its excellence.

Without further ado, let’s go through some of the more overlooked names this week. They’d work great for a variety of fantasy lineups–especially if you’re looking for that unconventional pick that could put you at a big, early advantage. Now, let’s go five deep.
