13. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12

The inclusion of having The Masters – Augusta National for the first time in gaming history boosts Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12.

Developed: EA Tiburon

Published: EA

Release Date: March 2011

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 and 13 are basically the same games. There’s not a whole lot that separates them, but I gave 12 the slight edge just because this game made a huge splash as you could play Augusta National for the first time in gaming history.

This was a huge moment for the franchise that had lost its luster and was pretty stagnant for the last couple of years. Being able to play The Masters at Augusta National was a huge boost.

For me, though, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 gets a ton of brownie points for being the first game to introduce Augusta National.

While introducing Augusta National for the first time was a needed jolt of energy, at the very core the gameplay wasn’t great.

As we talked about with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, the game was fine gameplay wise anybody could pick up a play and score a ton of birdies and eagles, but it didn’t challenge you. The gameplay mechanics weren’t as refined as they needed to be.

Still this was a significant and seminal moment in gaming history that deserves recognition.

With all that said, I wouldn’t argue if you have Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 ahead of this one. Both of these games look and feel the same that there isn’t much separating them.
