Fantasy Golf: Ladies Dream Golf Takes a Big Step
It isn’t DraftKings, but at Ladies Dream Golf, fantasy golf is giving back to the game.
Fantasy sports in general have a huge playing audience – an estimated 58 million North Americans are fantasy players – and golf, which entered the DFS milieu in 2014, is attracting it’s share of players. Now there’s a new twist to fantasy golf, a game that will funnel financial support to rising pro golfers.
Ladies Dream Golf, which has provided LPGA fans free-to-play, for-fun-only fantasy golf since 2012, has announced that players will have the option of playing for cash prizes this year and at the same time giving back to the game.
Pick-4 and Make-the-Cut fantasy golf players are going to be able to win more than bragging rights and Ladies Dream Golf caps, and so will Brittany Benvenuto and Allie White, two rising young Symetra Tour stars.

Arizona grad and 2015 ANNIKA Academy ELITE Athlete award winner Benvenuto was selected through a competitive process to be the 2016 Ladies Dream Golf Resident Pro and LDG Ambassador; and White, an Ohio grad who splits her time between playing Symetra Tour events and serving on the Ohio coaching staff, won the Associate Resident Pro position in the same competition.
Check out Brittany’s blog at the Ladies Dream Golf website. She’s not only a good golfer. She’s a fine writer and will be blogging all year about life on the Symetra Tour and her personal road to the LPGA. Allie, who has some long-term goals that will merge athletics and writing, is already well on her way with her blended career.

How It Works
Pick-4 is an individual tournament competition. Fantasy players pick four golfers for their “team,” one from within each of four ranked categories, and accumulate points based on their team’s winnings for that tournament. In the new 2016 cash prizes game, fantasy players have the choice of a pay-as-you-go arrangement or purchasing a “season pass” for the entire 2016 LPGA season.
Make-the-Cut is a season-long game. Fantasy players pick an LPGA player who will make the cut at each LPGA event, but can only pick a player one time during the season. If the golfer doesn’t make the cut, the fantasy player is eliminated from the Make-the-Cut competition. But there’s a twist. For a slightly greater investment fantasy golfers can play up to 10 concurrently running games.
The LPGA season starts January 28 with the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, so if you’re thinking about getting in on the Make-the-Cut game you need to visit the Ladies Dream Golf web site and get registered soon.
Of course, I’ll be helping by previewing the LPGA events each week and suggesting which players might make a winning team, although you’ll want to keep an eye on Allie’s blog too because she’s bragging about her fantasy golf acumen as well as her on-course playing skills.
