Defending Qatar Masters champion Branden Grace faces a formidable 2016 field at Doha.

The 2016 Qatar Masters hasn’t always attracted a high-powered field but that’s not been the case recently. The 22nd playing of the European Tour’s Qatar Masters boasts a field that include 9 players inside the top-50 in the OWGR, 3 past winners of the Race to Dubai, some 2015 EurAsia Cup stars, a long string of European Tour event champions, and a very impressive young amateur who seems ready to take on the entire pro golf world.

Given the field, I’m looking for some tough competition for Grace and looking forward to some exciting shot-making.

The Doha Golf Club Championship Course hosts the Qatar Masters. It’s known as a tough course from the back tees and offers many strategic and heroic holes that will test the skills of the 2016 field. The course has been designed with two starting and finishing holes which maximizes tournament layout and playing flexibility.

The unusual 150 hectare (370 acre) track has been enhanced by emphasizing the natural attributes and features. Lakes double as obstacles and aesthetic features. About 5000 shrubs, 6000 trees, 10 000 cacti imported from Arizona emphasize the nature of the rugged surroundings.
