Australian Women’s Open Fantasy Golf Picks
Rachel Hetherington’s been honing her competitive skills for a year or more and she’s ready now.
If you’re in the mood to put a rookie or a sophomore on your team, think about Annie Park, Alejandra Llaneza or Cheyenne Woods.

Park is a standout Tour rookie who finished first in last years Symetra Tour Race for the Card. I know she’s missed the cut at both the Pure Silk-Bahamas and the Coates Golf Championship and I know this is her debut to Down Under golf competition, but I also think she has game. She could be worth the risk.
Llaneza is also a Symetra Tour alum. She’s starting her 3rd year on the Tour and she’s beginning to make a few cuts. If you feel sentimental about Symetra Tour grads, she might be worth a gamble.
Then there’s Cheyenne Woods, who has an established winning record in Australia – she won the 2014 Australian Ladies Masters – but had to make a 2nd pass through Q-School to hold on to her Tour card. She might be worth a gamble too.
My favorite pick in this group is the less risky Rachel Hetherington, a contemporary of Karrie Webb who opted for the Mommy Track but retained her involvement in pro golf and has recently returned to competition.

Hetherington, who’s locally popular and a fine golfer, captained the Australian Team at the LET’s Queens Cup and has been honing her competitive skills for a year.
