Warm weather is upon us, golfers. Make sure you stock up on Antigua’s new 2016 Spring Collection to maximize your performance while keeping a classic look.

Good ol’ Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow earlier this February meaning the spring weather is right around the corner. For most golf fans, that usually means it’s time to dust off the sticks and start getting in the right mindset for a new year on the links.

Take a different approach to your spring cleaning this year and hit your closet. Get rid of the shirts you don’t wear and treat yourself to some new threads. After all, as the saying goes, “Look good, feel good, play good.”

Start this season off on the right foot by stocking up on Antigua’s Spring Collection. The company is going with a new look for 2016 that keeps the styles simple, but maximizes performance. Antigua is focusing to improve value and quality of their products, while giving them a more classic and subtle appearance. To do so, they’re incorporating two fabric details to enhance the overall product.

The first is by making all of their polos with spandex included in the fabric. Sean Gregg, VP of Product Development and Marketing Support, describes the importance of this move.

"“Typically spandex is used for added stretch in fitted athletic wear. Antigua incorporated spandex in the golfwear collections, to solely improve on the already soft hand feel of the Desert Dry and Desert Dry Xtra-Lite fabrications without compromising performance. Spandex elevates the softness factor and amplifies the body of the fabric that it’s knit into, enhancing the performance fabrics’ natural drape in this season’s collection.”"

The second step was adding nylon yarns to their fabric in order to take their product to the next level. The nylon combined with spandex gives their collar shirts enhanced performance.

While keeping their focus on the overall product, Antigua intentionally modernized the style of the 2016 Spring Collection. The new, classic style is so universal that it’s been incorporated in over half of their polos.

Antigua has a wide variety of styles in their new collection, including Pure, Edge, and Paradise, which I was able to put to the test. Pure and Edge are two of their golf polos and Paradise is a style of their golf shorts.

The Pure and Edge polos were ideal for the golf course. The shirts are very lightweight and breathable, which is perfect for hotter weather. While the polos were conforming because of their nylon/spandex fabric, they weren’t restricting or damaging to one’s golf swing. The sleeves of the polos have even been shortened as to not affect the golfer when setting up their swing.

Pure is a very simple style that comes in one basic solid color. This style is so wonderful because it’s versatile in many different situations. Whether it’s for the golf course, workplace, or just a casual night out, Pure is the perfect golf polo to have in your closet.

Of the two polos, I enjoyed the Edge style the most. The spandex fabrics provide for an extremely comfortable experience and conforming to the golfer’s body type. It’s a little more stylish than the Pure style with the addition of neutral stripes, but this goes back to their attempt to focus on the overall product while keeping the look standard.

The Paradise shorts come in a plaid print available in various colors and are extremely lightweight. It’s almost as if you are wearing gym shorts on the course. The golf shorts are made with Antigua’s Desert Dry moisture wicking technology to absorb moisture and keep you dry.
