1. 6th hole at Bay Hill

The 6th hole at Bay Hill is one of the most unique holes in all of golf.

This being at the top of my list may be a surprise to some people. The one major difference from this hole from most of the others is that it is on the front nine. There are not too many 6th holes that are considered one of the signature holes on the course. Bay Hill is unique and so is this par-5.

The hole is basically in the shape of a horseshoe. You have to carry it over a massive lake for your tee shot. Then you have to carry it over that same lake again for your second shot. Golf Channel’s Tripp Isenhour broke down how the players will try to play this great par-5.

It’s all about how aggressive you want to be off the tee. If you take it further left, your going to have a longer carry but if you pull it off you will be rewarded with just a mid iron in for your second shot. Big hitters have a clear advantage in that sense.

The wind is also a big factor. If it’s playing into the wind, you need to be smart and play this as a three shot hole. If you try to get aggressive, your mis-hits will be even greater affected and you will come up short. If the whole plays downwind, you can play further left, but have to be wary of the runout when the ball hits the fairway.

The scoring at this hole will be very volatile. If you hit a good drive, your going to have a chance for eagle. However, if you mis-hit a drive or pull your second shot a bit too much, you could be looking at a big number pretty quick.
