The Masters is almost a month away, but who are the favorites to win the Green Jacket? Here’s a look at the current odds and some names you’ll want to keep an eye on.

The PGA TOUR season has held 17 tournaments so far this season as the schedule creeps into the first week of March. For most people, the beginning of March doesn’t mean much, but for golf fans it can only mean one thing. April is close and the Masters is right around the corner.

We currently sit 37 days away from the first round at Augusta National which seems like a lot, but if you’ve been counting down since last year’s final round then 37 days doesn’t seem so bad.

Now that we sit about a month away from the first major of the season, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about who you will be rooting for. Plenty of golfers have been making their rounds and fans have been able to get a feel for how golfers are playing this season.

There is plenty of value to be found in betting on the Masters, but only if you know what you’re looking for. Golfers who find success at Augusta National usually have distance off the tee and a shot shape that fits the course. Guys like Rory McIlroy, who have a high draw set up well on Augusta.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at the current odds (March 3rd) for the Masters courtesy of Bovada and see if we can find some good value in betting the potential winner.

There are plenty of other odds, but these are the favorites to win the Green Jacket. It’s most likely that you’ll find your winner from this group of golfers. Now the hard part is picking the right guy. Who is trending upward this year? Which golfer is longest off the tee and suits well for Augusta National?

Favorites

Obviously, it’s hard to go against Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Jason Day, but none of these names tickle my fancy the most among the favorites. I like Justin Rose at 25/1, but the golfer I’m locked in on is Adam Scott at 16/1.

The Aussie is trending upward at the right time and has the recipe for success at the Augusta National. First of all, he won back in 2013 to collect his first Green Jacket and proved he has the mentality to win on the biggest stage. His knowledge of the course helps too.

After a rough 2015 season, Adam Scott has re-emerged as one of the great golfers on the PGA TOUR after collecting his win at the Honda Classic. His irons are dialed in and he’s found a comfort level with the shorter putter.

What attracts me most about the Aussie is that he carries tremendous value. He started as a 25/1 favorite to win the Masters before the Honda Classic and has dropped down to 16/1 since his win. I only see his odds dropping the closer we get to Masters week, so grab him at this price point while you can.

Longshots

It’s always fun to pick a longshot to put a little bit of money on for the Masters. Not a name that you’re going to bet the house on, but someone who will cash in big if you put a few bucks on.

There is the always interesting Tiger Woods bet at 50/1. 50/1 is too low for me to be taking a risk on a guy who hasn’t even committed to the tournament. Regardless, it’s always fun to check in on Tiger’s odds.

However, one of the most appealing longshot is Louis Oosthuizen at 40/1. Oosthuizen is making his 8th Masters appearance and has a good record at Augusta National. In his last four starts, Louis has three top-25 finishes including a runner-up finish in 2012.

He recently grabbed a win at the Perth International and has the confidence of winning a tournament just a month before getting to Augusta National. At 40/1, Ooshuizen is a tasty option for your Masters longshot.
