There’s likely to be a 2-way Sunday Shootout finish to the Lalla Meyrem Cup!

The Lalla Meyrem Cup final round could end up as a 2-way shootout. Florentyna Parker kept herself just two shots ahead of Liz Young to finish the 3rd round of the LET‘s Lalla Meyrem Cup still on the top of the board.  The finish will be hard-fought.

Breezy conditions on the Blue Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco on Saturday slowed Parker down a bit, but her short game kept her at even par through six holes. In golf, patience is always the key. It paid off for the Englishwoman when she birdied the 7th and moved three shots ahead of the pack.

Parker went out in 35, bogeyed the 11th, got a stroke back with a birdie on the 13th, then dropped another shot on 17 to get back to the house with a 37.

The winner of the 2010 ABN AMRO Ladies Open and the 2014 Italian Open was satisfied with her score

"“I am happy with my score but the first nine were so up and down it was incredible: I was holing putts from everywhere. . . The back nine calmed down playing wise but I didn’t score as well. I made two bogeys and a birdie on 13. To be honest there aren’t many score boards out there but obviously playing with the other two, you can tell how people are scoring. Liz and I shot level par and I think it was a good score out there because it was really windy and sometimes hard to tell where it was coming from.” – Florentyna Parker"

At six under par, Parker will go into the final round at the Lalla Meyrem Cup two strokes ahead of compatriot Liz Young and Ladies European Tour rookie Nuria Iturrios from Spain.

Young went out in 36 after a birdie on the second and bogey on the fifth and it was a similar story on the back nine as she birdied 13 and dropped a shot on 17. The eighth season LET player from Hampshire, who has twice finished in fourth place, in Scotland and Slovakia, is targeting her first podium finish on Sunday at the Lalla Meyrem Cup.  At four months pregnant, Young was so exhausted after her second round that she fell asleep on the journey back to her hotel.

I just want to play my golf and enjoy it – Nuria Iturrios

Iturrios, who is playing in only her second LET event having tied for 24th in New Zealand in February, is excited to be back in Morocco. Ir seems to be a good place for her – she finished fourth at Lalla Aicha Tour School in December.

Frenchwoman Lucie Andre and Finland’s Noora Tamminen share fourth on three under par while a further three players are a stroke further back and only four from the lead heading into the final round. They are 17-year-old rookie Angel Yin from the United States, Finland’s Krista Bakker and Isabelle Boineau from France, all of whom are yet to win on the Ladies European Tour.

The Indian rookie standout, Aditi Ashok, who is likely headed for Rio and some Olympic golf in August, is going into the final round at 3-over par, alongside Mel Reid and with a share of 21st place. Ashok is no doubt looking for a finish inside the top-20.
