Quite simply, Westwood is one of the very best European golfers of all time. The one thing that has eluded him is a major win. He’s gone close a number of times including in his latest attempt at the 2016 Masters where he finished second, showing he’s still good enough to compete at the highest level.
All in, ‘Westy’ has 42 professional wins. He turns up to the Irish Open looking to make it 43 in order to try and book a place in Darren Clarke’s 2016 Ryder Cup team. Whether or not he needs a captain’s pick to get in, Westwood deserves a place at Hazeltine to write yet another chapter of European golf history.
